Rinca Island - Flores NTT

Rinca Island is the part of Komodo National Park near Komodo Island, Flores - West Nusa Tenggara.

Even though it is not as big and famous as Komodo Island, it is still a good place to see Komodo Dragons and we can find other species like buffalos and many birds.

My bf & I went to Flores for the 1st time the end of 2013 for our new year vacation. We arrived and stayed in Labuan Bajo which is for me, it kinda looks like Bali, but in their own way. So many foreigners even though as not as many like in Bali, but still, many :D.

Labuan Bajo itself is nice port town, it is the gate to enter East Nusa Tenggara and I can see that few years later, it will be like Bali, even better.

Well our 2nd day in Labuan Bajo, we took one day tour to Rinca Island that took about 2 hours by boat. By paying Rp. 900.000 for both of us, besides boat rent it also includes lunch, water, and snorkel gear, not bad.

We arrived in Loh Buaya (Crocodile Bay), paid some other stuff like entrance fee, ranger fee, camera fee, etc total is Rp. 175.000.
We couldn’t even do our tour right away cause we had to wait for our ranger. They said they ran out of rangers because too many visitors, so we had to wait, but not that long cause few minutes later other group finished their tour so we got our ranger.

Our ranger was a nice guy, at 1st he explain to us about the tour rules, that he only could promise us that we could meet Komodo in their kitchen area, when we do our trekking, he couldn’t promise we could find any other Komodo, so we took the medium trekking which took about an hour.

We went to the kitchen area 1st and saw like 5 Komodo laying or sunbathing or whatever they were doing, and it was awesome!_Took some pictures for sure and videos cause Thank God one of them start moving -_-

Then we continue trekking and met about two Komodos, 1 was Komodo mother laying on the ground and the other one was Komodo Little Girl or Boy digging the ground, and we saw other species too.

The rest of our trekking we didn’t find Komodos anymore but from the hill we could see a beautiful scenery of Rinca Island and the ocean.

It was really nice adventure anyway. Kinda disappointed that i didn't find more Komodos, but that i finally met them was awesome. I wish i could pet them <3
